(1) Terms & Conditions
(1a) General Disclaimer | We provide all information and content on this website for informational purposes only. Information contained in these pages is not intended to be, and should not be taken as, legally-binding advice. All information provided through this website is provided “as-is, where-is” and without any warranties of any kind, including the warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Your use of this website does not constitute or establish a contractual relationship with us; however, you may subscribe to certain services or listservs through this website, in which case you agree to our Terms and Conditions.
(1b) Intellectual Property | This site, and all the information it contains, including but not limited to articles, blog posts, designs, drawings, illustrations, photographs, videos, opinions, text, guides, trademarks, trade names, service marks and logos (“Protected Information”) are the intellectual property of this website owner, and is protected from unauthorized use, copying, distribution and dissemination by U.S. Copyright law, trademark law, international conventions, and other intellectual property laws. All rights reserved. You may not use our Protected Information without express written consent.
(2) Information Collection, Use, and Sharing
(2a) Expectation of Privacy | We are the sole owners of the information collected on this website. We only have access to/collect information that you voluntarily and knowingly provide to us. We will not sell this information to anyone. We will use your information to respond to you, regarding the reason you contacted us. We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization, other than as necessary to fulfill your requests, e.g. to ship an order. Unless you request otherwise, we may contact you in the future to inform you of updates, additions, or changes to this policy.
(2b) Personally Identifiable Information | We may offer forms or polls which collect personal information. With use of this form, a user is required to give certain identifiable information (such as name and email address). This information is only used to contact you about the content in which you have expressed interest. At your option, you may be asked to voluntarily provide demographic information (such as location) about yourself, but it is not required.
(2c) Non-Personally Identifiable Information | We may collect and use non-personally identifiable information for customer convenience and analytics through Google Analytics, Google Console, and WordPress. Such information may include, but is not limited to, your browser information, device information, and other information about your use of- and actions on- the website, such as information about the content you viewed or interacted with, what pages you clicked on, what images or articles you viewed, date and time information, and other information about your online activity solely as it relates to the use of this website.
(2e) Cookies | We may send one or more cookies– a small text file containing a string of alphanumeric characters– to your computer that uniquely identifies your browser and allows you to log in faster and enhance your navigation through the site. We may use both persistent cookies, which remain on your hard drive after you close your browser, and session cookies, which terminate when you close your browser. You may disable cookies at any time, though some features may not function as expected if the ability to accept cookies is disabled.
(2e) Applicability and Third-Party Services | Any use of comment forums or other public input may be guided by policies separate from our policies. Your use and interaction with their service is subject to their respective policies. We are not responsible for the practices employed by such third-parties, or the information or content contained or gathered thereon.
(2f) Your Access to- and Control Over- Information | You may opt out of any future contacts at any time. You can do the following at any time by contacting us via the email address or phone number provided: a) See what data we have about you, if any; b) Change/correct any data we have about you; c) Have us delete any data we have about you; d) Express any concern you have about our use of your data.
(2g) Security and Information Protection | We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information, your information is protected both online and offline. Wherever we collect sensitive information (such as credit card data), that information is encrypted and transmitted to us with redundant security measures. You can verify this by looking for the lock icon in the address bar and for “https” at the beginning of the address of the webpage, indicating the encryption is active and secure. While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only individuals who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, billing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment with multiple layers of redundant encryption.
(3) Community Guidelines
(3a) Keep It Civil | In order for discussions to thrive, remember to criticize ideas, not people. Name-calling, ad-hominem arguments, inflammatory or knee-jerk contradictions, and responding to anything other than the content of the comments will not be tolerated. Personal attacks, harassment, and otherwise hateful rhetoric (including- but not limited to- sexist, racist, misogynist, homophobic, ableist, ageist, xenophobic, and other broad, offensive generalizations about groups of people) will not be tolerated.
(3b) Enforcing And Reporting | This website utilizes Disqus’ Terms of Service and Basic Rules to provide a framework. According to this framework, abusive behaviors will result in appropriate action. These abusive behaviors include: 1) targeted, systemic harassment, or encouraging others to do so; 2) direct threats of harm towards a specific individual or groups of individuals; 3) spam, such as promoting products or services; 4) impersonation intended to mislead, confuse, or deceive others; 5) posting personally identifiable information, such as home/work address, phone number, email, SSN, or credit card numbers; and 6) inappropriate profile content, such as excessive violence or hypersexual/pornographic content. Moderators reserve the right to report all content that contains such behaviors to Disqus– which may result in the removal and banning of the profile from the entire Disqus platform– as well as to the appropriate authorities, if applicable, if a crime or threat of crime has been committed or is likely to be committed.
(3c) If You See Something, Say Something | Moderators may not catch everything. Combatting spam, mediating disputes, and enforcing these guidelines are aided by a group effort. If you see an issue, contact the moderators or flag specific comments for review.
(3d) Add Value | Always strive to add value to every interaction and discussion you participate in.
(3e) Keep It Tidy | Help make moderators’ lives easier. This includes: 1) Don’t post off-topic comments or discussions; 2) Don’t cross-post the same thing on multiple threads; 3) Utilize the “Reply” nesting features for replies; and 4) Strive for clarity and brevity.
(3f) Moderation | It is the moderator’s sole discretion to remove any comments or threads that are felt to violate the spirit of the this community, regardless of the specificity or inclusion of such behaviors in these expressed guidelines.
If you feel that we are not abiding by any of the policies contained herein, please contact us immediately via telephone or email.
